EAT: Casual Fine Dining Experience in Bon Appétit, Oasis Damansara

October 01, 2017

Fine dining is usually rigid, dress code to comply with, manner to watch out, and not to mentioned it is pretty costly. It is always good to splurge ourselves once in a while occasionally with good food and good environment.

The owner of Bon Appétit has some different perception over fine dining, it should be the usual good food, casual and comfortable, a price that most people can afford, yet the food and experience should be fine dining quality.

Main Course

1. Chicken Navarin, RM26

Do not be surprise when you tasted the chicken leg, it is supposed to taste slightly salty as it is some fusion from the chinese version of salt baked chicken.

2. The Great Western Beef Burger, RM28

I switched mine to chicken patty and it taste really good for my liking.

Dessert

1. Crème Brulee, RM10

I've ate a lot of crème brulee served warm, their method of chilling crème brulee gave me a pleasant surprise. The rich custard inside is extremely soft and cooling inside, an interesting combination with the harden caramel on top.

2. Triple Play Sundae, RM10

A unique triple layer offering of chocolate, vanilla and coffee ice cream. This is after all my favorite and perfect ending to this meal, it has a slight bitter taste that I like that made me can't stop digging.

I was told that all desserts are made in limited quantity each day, so rest assured that all desserts are made fresh daily.

Drinks

1. Apple Twist, RM13

More like pandan twist in my personal opinion, the pandan extract gives the fresh apple juice a gentle sweet twist.

2. Rock Sangria, RM15

Fret not, this does not contain alcohol, it's mocktail.

Both cold drinks were introduced as intermezzo. Intermezzo are widely popular in fine dining, to cleanse palette between courses. Apple Twist was introduced after french onion soup (great way to wash away the strong onion smell before your tasting the next course); wherevy Rock Sangria was served right before dessert (good to prep the tongue and belly for some sweet stuff).

3. Hot Chocolate, RM11

I always like to end my meal with hot coffee or chocolate if any of these are available. Their hot chocolate is rich and not too sweet.
